HERITAGE DAYS: COLONIAL LIVING (OPENING WEEKEND)

Saturday May 20th and Sunday May 21st 12-4pm

Come spend some time and experience what a typical day in colonial times was like. See crafts, games, and learn about the concerns of the times.

Docents in period clothing will welcome visitors to the historic house, assist with colonial games, dances, and craft activities on the grounds, as well as a mock colonial court, during which visitors may bring their family and friends to trial and see them placed in the stocks for a variety of real and imagined colonial offenses.

A display about Roger Williams’ time and trade at Cocumscussoc will be on hand in the trading post. Displays of swordsmanship and weaponry will also be displayed throughout the weekend.

This year’s entertainment, sponsored by the North Kingstown Arts Council will include traditional folk songs and sea shanties sung by the Rhode Island Pirate Players and friends on Saturday, and The Old Time Fiddlers of Rhode Island return to entertain us on Sunday.

Local vendors and artisans of hand-crafted jewelry, clothing, painting, and other items will be on hand, as well as the U.R.I. Master Gardeners who will be on hand for soil-sampling and gardening advice, as well as to guide visitors through our colonial garden.

Join us for a weekend of fun and festivities, colonial style.

Admission: $10.00 per adult, $5.00 per child 6-12 years. Free for children under 6 years old and Castle members. $2.00 discount for seniors, and active military personnel.
